On a hot and sunny Saturday in early June during Charlotte's annual Dogswalk Against Cancer event, a boxy-headed little pup with a mottled brindle coat trotted across the blacktop. Somewhere in the crowd, a man stared at the prancing canine, instantly noting that she had some Staffordshire Terrier somewhere in her lineage. Walking over, the man introduced himself as Ben and began speaking to the puppy's foster mom, inititating a match made in heaven.

An update (08.02.09):

Stella is doing fantastic! She has really grown into a beautiful pup, filling out to almost 60 pounds now. She's still the sweetest little baby to us, though. Stella has already gone to the beach twice this summer and loves to surf the waves!

A note from Stella's mom, Victoria (01.07.09):

We love Stella so much. She wasn't a fan of her jingle bell collar but she got used to it quickly. It was so funny, we put it on her and she just froze and when she started to move she would freeze again when the bells would start to jingle...haha. I'm so happy that she came into our lives. We have seen her "Happy Tails", and it's just the best thing! She was so precious as a pup! She is so loving to us and we have spoiled her rotten! She now is allowed to lay with us on the coach and sleeps in the bed! She adores her little-big brother Mason and wants to follow him around and do what he does. She still is a little unsure of new people but we are trying to work with her on that. I think it may be her breed that makes her that way. She also is getting ready to have her first birthday next month and we are excited to celebrate! I just wanted to thank you for all the wonderful things you do. Stella truly is a blessing to us. :) We will definitely try to make it to one of your events.

A note from Ben (07.11.08):

Stella is doing wonderful! She has been a joy to have so far and we have been all kinds of places. She went to the beach last weekend (Sunset Beach) and she loves the sand and the waves, barking and jumping around in the water the whole time! She is doing a great job learning to walk with dad on the leash and has had less than 5 accidents in the house (1 due to the storms on Tuesday night, because she wouldn't go out). She also went to the "Dog Bar" last Wednesday and got along great with all the other pups there and seemed to have a great time just checking everyone out, but didn't get too far from dad. I have tried to continue the training ground work you started, but she can sometimes be a little stubborn. She does sit before we go out any outside door and will wait for me to ask her to come out before she goes outside. She has really warmed up to Victoria and Mason, but is still a little cautious of new people and we are working on that. I will get some pics from the beach and send them to you, she is growing like a weed!
