How is Willow with...

Other Dogs: Excellent.
Cats: Very good.
Children: Excellent.

House-training Status: Willow has not had an accident in the house since she arrived at her foster home. She is a very smart girl and will let her foster mommy or daddy know when she has to go potty.
Crate-training Status: This is a work in progress. At some point in her past, Willow may have experienced crating as punishment. She has to be coaxed into her crate with treats and exhibits a variety of stress reactions when left alone in her crate. She does better in a "clam shell" style crate rather than a wire cage style crate.
Leash-training Status: Willow walks very nicely on leash. Since she is such a big girl and very strong, she wears a training collar as a precaution, but she requires very little correction and responds well to vocal commands.

General Personality and Energy Level: Willow is a very sweet-natured dog. She loves to romp and play with her foster brothers, but if her foster parents are around you can bet that she is close by!

History: Willow was picked up as a stray by Charlotte-Mecklenburg Animal Control. She had very recently been separated from a litter of her puppies.

Other Comments: Willow is a sweet and gentle girl with some good basic skills and nice manners. She discovered the doggy toy box quickly, and as a rule knows what is hers to play with. However, she still requires supervision; we have had to rescue the occasional shoe, towel or pillow from certain destruction!

¹Fully vetted = Physical exam, DHPP (or DHLPP) and Bordetella vaccines, Rabies vaccine, fecal and/or deworming, Heartworm/Erlichia/Lyme 3-Way Snap Test, Heartworm Preventative, Flea/Tick Preventative
²NYA = Not Yet Adoptable
³F2A = Foster2Adopt: This means that an applicant is "fostering" the dog for a few days to assess how it behaves around them and their other pets. This trial period will let the applicant(s) know whether or not they can successfully bring the dog into their home as part of their family. This only occurs when Crossroads has otherwise completely approved the adoption.
