How is Dobie with...

Other Dogs: Dobie is doing well with my pack of large breed dogs.
Cats: Unknown.
Children: Foster mom has no children but Dobie does fine with them at adoption events if you don’t mind a little face licking.

House-training Status: This is a work in progress. He had a dog door in his temporary home and is used to all day access to the "bathroom". He needs to be watched closely and let out frequently.
Crate-training Status: Dobie will crate, but sometimes still cries. And, oh, what a cry. I am trying to break him of this before adoption, but cannot guarantee that he would not need retraining in a new environment. He does not soil the crate overnight.
Leash-training Status: Dobie will need continued leash work.

General Personality and Energy Level: Dobie can be a calm little guy or very active, depending on the environment. If my dogs initiate play he will participate fully. He seems to prefer the company of humans. He is also a bit timid with new people and animals. He shows no aggression toward humans or animals and is a good natured little guy.

History: Crossroads rescued Dobie from PetsMart when someone left him at the Banfield Veterinary Clinic after discovering he was not a pure-bred Doberman. He was about 7 weeks old at the time. He was adopted in June by a family who discovered they had dog-related allergies, and they returned him in October. Dobie is back with me now, and we are working to re-teach him the manners he had learned while in foster care. I will only consider adopters for Dobie who intend to make a lifetime commitment to him. He is a smart, sweet and beautiful little guy and will be a great companion for the right family.

¹Fully vetted = Physical exam, DHPP (or DHLPP) and Bordetella vaccines, Rabies vaccine, fecal and/or deworming, Heartworm/Erlichia/Lyme 3-Way Snap Test, Heartworm Preventative, Flea/Tick Preventative
²NYA = Not Yet Adoptable
³F2A = Foster2Adopt: This means that an applicant is "fostering" the dog for a few days to assess how it behaves around them and their other pets. This trial period will let the applicant(s) know whether or not they can successfully bring the dog into their home as part of their family. This only occurs when Crossroads has otherwise completely approved the adoption.
